David H. Ferris Jr. has been managing member of D. Ferris Consulting, LLC since 2008. Dave started the consulting business upon the urging of peers, who he has assisted with many security related projects.

Dave has been in the security and law enforcement field for the last twenty-five years. Recent projects include security audits for commercial and residential customers, crisis planning for public and private school systems, and tactical training for police and civilian security.

Dave is a lieutenant with a Police Department in Connecticut and has been employed there since 1989. He has been assigned to the patrol and investigative sections and is active with many additional department programs. He was formerly responsible for the training, inventory, budget, and maintenance of the department’s Medical Unit, which includes Automatic External Defibrillators. He is a state certified Emergency Medical Technician and a police academy certified Firearms, SWAT, and Police and the Public instructor. He is currently assigned as a patrol shift commander and is Rangemaster of the Department. Dave was also assigned to the Special Response Team (SWAT) as Team Leader, holding former positions in the team as executive officer, sniper team leader, and sniper. During his time as a sniper, he represented the department in national and international sniper training and competition matches. He is a security consultant to local schools and businesses specializing in physical security and crisis planning. He was formerly the sergeant of the Youth Division, which handles all juvenile matters, investigative cases, Community Relations, Crime Prevention, and Victim/Witness Assistance programs. He was also the Public Information Officer for the department and was on the Board of Directors of eight local organizations. He also managed the Training Division, which included recruitment, testing, and selection for new officers. Other former assignments have included dispatcher, bike patrol, patrol sergeant, and detective. He instituted and oversaw a successful anti-graffiti program and teaches yearly safety and educational programs in the public and private school systems. He has attended numerous police schools and has been awarded two Medical Service awards, two Meritorious Duty awards, a Connecticut State E.M.S. award, Marksmanship awards, and a Rotary Club Community Service award.

Prior to becoming a police officer, Dave was employed as a Security System Technician for ADT Alarm Systems, a Corrections Officer for the Connecticut Department of Corrections, a Store Detective for the J.C. Penney Company and Security Manager for the D.M. Read’s Company. He served with the United States Army at Ft. Benning, Georgia in the 197th Infantry Brigade, Combat Support Company, and as a reservist in the 385th Regiment Training Company.

Dave has a Masters Degree from the University of New Haven in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in Law and Society and an Associate’s Degree from Norwalk Community College in Criminal Justice Administration. He is an adjunct instructor at the University of New Haven, teaching criminal justice courses.

Dave was a volunteer CPR instructor for the New Canaan Chapter of the American Red Cross, held a past position as vice-chair of the Board of Directors, Director of Health and Safety, and was the 1999 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. He is a former member of the Trumbull Emergency Medical Services and the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he volunteered as a state certified Emergency Medical Technician. This experience led to a former appointment by the Chief of Police to the Executive Board of the Southwestern Connecticut Emergency Medical Services Council as the First Responder/Police representative.

John M. Rocke

John M. Rocke has been a security consultant with D. Ferris Consulting, LLC since 2010. John was asked to join the company due to his vast experience as a detective and owner of JMR Security Consultants, LLC.

John has been in the security and law enforcement field for the last 29 years. Recent projects include security surveys for commercial and residential customers and CCTV design and implementation.

John has been employed full time with the Westport Police Department since 1984. He has been assigned to the patrol and investigative sections. He is currently assigned as a detective. He has investigated and solved numerous crimes and major investigations involving crimes against persons and property. John has received extensive training all aspects of investigation. John has received numerous service commendations for his work with the detective bureau, FBI Task Force, and relations with the public. He teaches training seminars for businesses and seniors.

John is a State of Connecticut Medical Response Technician (MRT), is a member of the Public Safety Committee for the Town of Westport, and was formerly a store detective for Bloomingdale’s Department Store.

John has operated his own security consulting company for the last four years and has completed many projects setting up CCTV, teaching seminars, project management, and Security Survey and analysis for residential and commercial applications.

Shawn A. Sember

Shawn A. Sember has been a security consultant with D. Ferris Consulting, LLC since 2010. Shawn was asked to join the company due to his vast experience and knowledge of security and investigative techniques.

Shawn has been in the security and law enforcement field for the last 28 years. Recent projects include security surveys for commercial and residential customers and investigative recommendations.

Shawn has been employed full time with the Trumbull Police Department since 1982. He has been assigned to the patrol and investigative sections and is a member of the Critical Incident Team. He is currently assigned as a detective sergeant making him second-in-command of Detective Bureau. He supervises eight detectives and an administrative assistant. He is responsible for overseeing all major investigations and coordinates agency interventions. As a member of the regional SWAT team, he commands a three member hostage negotiator unit and has received numerous service commendations.

Shawn is a State of Connecticut Medical Response Technician (MRT) and was formerly a teacher for the City of Bridgeport.

Shawn has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement.
